Brandon Recreation Guide — Rinks, Pools, Gyms

Published May 20, 2026 · ~ 4 min read

Brandon has a solid network of public recreation facilities — most of them run by the city or the school division. Schedules and pricing change seasonally, but here is the honest map of what's available and where to check current hours.

Public swimming pools

Sportsplex Pool— Brandon's main indoor public pool, year-round. Lane swim, family swim, lessons, and aquafit. The most reliable source for current hours is the City of Brandon recreation page.

Kinsmen Pool — Outdoor seasonal pool, open mid-June through August. Family-friendly, free for kids on some afternoons; check the City page in June for the season schedule.

Hockey rinks & ice surfaces

Keystone Centre — The big one. Home of the Wheat Kings, but also hosts public skating, learn-to-skate programs, and adult / minor hockey rentals.

Sportsplex / Optimist Park / Kirkcaldy Heights— Community rinks for minor hockey, ringette, and public skating. Schedules posted on the City recreation page and on each community club's Facebook.

Outdoor rinks — Several outdoor rinks across Brandon get flooded in winter (subject to weather). The City of Brandon publishes a seasonal list with status updates.

Fitness centres

YMCA Brandon — Full gym, pool, classes, child-minding. Monthly membership; drop-in available.

Healthy Living Centre (Brandon U) — Public memberships, indoor track, weight room, fitness classes. University-adjacent but open to the community.

Private gyms— Anytime Fitness, GoodLife, plus several specialty/CrossFit boxes. Check each gym's current pricing; deals rotate.

Parks, trails, and outdoor recreation

Riverbank Discovery Centre— Trails along the Assiniboine, summer programming, winter cross-country skiing when there's snow.

Wascana / Eleanor Kidd / Stanley Park — Major Brandon parks with playgrounds, splash pads (summer), and walking paths.

Trails— The Trans-Canada Trail passes through Brandon. Local trail maps via the Riverbank Discovery Centre or the City's parks pages.

How to find current schedules

The most reliable single source is the City of Brandon recreation page. They publish a recreation guide PDF a few times a year that lists every program, fee, and registration deadline.

We're building Good Morning Brandon so changes to public swim schedules, rink hours, and registration deadlines show up in one daily email — instead of you remembering to check the City page.
